The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives.

Im Dr. Lori Schade, LMFT. I wanted to become a marriage and family therapist because I grew up in a large family and loved it. I have my own large family of 7 children, and though it's crazy, I believe in the protective elements of strong families. Marriages and families potentially influence individuals in powerful ways. Some of our strongest emotions are experienced in our family relationships. Helping people in the context of these relationships is my favorite kind of therapy.

About Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy is a model of therapy that has been proven in many research studies to be effective in treating couples. The model recognizes the importance of close romantic attachment relationships and targets not only negative behavioral and communication patterns, but the underlying emotions that drive those patterns. Although I am familiar with all of the standard therapy models, I use this model primarily because in my own work and experience, and in the work of the many therapists and cases I have supervised, it is simply the one that works the best.
